Such Strange Philosophies
Peter Lay
A collection of works written

Ancient Vegan Proverb
(Calvin Williams, 1991)
Whilst those who live
according
to the guilt of others
still live in sorrow
over the setting of the sun,
those who live in honesty
according to their own hearts
can smile and live in joy
and eagerness
for the soft light of morning
they belong to.
You cannot betray
the past
neither can it suffer
Without cost ~
you cannot take responsibility
for all the burdens others have learned
for themselves
and would leave with you
~ The price is to betray your future.
Enjoy the dawn you deserve it.
Believe it
and it will be yours to keep.
Yours to share.
Introduction
This book is divided into three parts.
Part one is a collection of poems and songs written by Peter Lay between 1970 and 1975, and two concept pieces, sort of ‘rock operas’, ‘Tale of an Old Man’, and ‘Ive Trip’.
Part two contains a number of sayings. These have been collected over a number of years, some make sense, some don’t and some will only make sense to those that were there. These have been attributed where known.
Part three is stuff written by Peter Lay from 1993 onwards, plus some meaningful pieces by others.
As to who wrote what? Apart from stuff written by Peter Lay, anything written or said by someone else has been attributed, with a date where known. Anything with no name or date means I don’t know who said or wrote them. Finally the first thing you will have read in this book is a piece, ‘Ancient Vegan Proverb’ sent to Helen and I, in 1991 when we began our relationship, by our good friends, Calvin Williams.
